Install Griply Widgets on iPhone

Griply's widgets put your tasks, habits, and goals on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, so you can tick things off without opening the app. There are five Home Screen widgets and two Lock Screen ones, and they're all free on every plan.

How to add widgets

  1. Go to your iPhone's homescreen

  2. Press and hold your finger on the home screen until the app icons start shaking.

  3. Click on "Edit" on the top left

  4. Press "Add Widget"

  5. Search for "Griply"

  6. Swipe through the widgets and press "Add Widget" to add the widget you're currently viewing.

  7. Repeat the process to add another widget.

Most widgets ask which habit or goal they should show. To change that later, press and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget.

The Home Screen Widgets

Today

Your tasks and habits for today.

  • Sizes: Small, Medium, Large

  • Tap a task's checkbox to complete it without opening Griply.

  • Tap the + in the corner to jump straight into creating a task.

Nothing to configure. It always shows today.

Habit Heat Map

A month grid of one habit's completions, skips, and fails. This is the one to use when you want a streak visible on your Home Screen.

  • Size: Small

  • Pick one habit when you add it. Skip that step and it uses your first habit.

  • Tap the body to open the habit, or the top-right corner to complete or uncomplete today.

Habit List

Up to eight habits with a row of S M T W T F S checkboxes for the week.

  • Sizes: Medium, Large

  • Pick eight habits when you add it, or skip and get your first eight.

  • Tap a day cell to complete that habit for that day. If the habit has a per-day target, tapping adds one to the count.

  • Tap a habit's name to open it.

Future days are disabled, so you can't tick something off in advance.

Goal

One goal's name, current progress, and time left until its deadline.

  • Sizes: Small, Medium

  • You have to pick a goal for this one. There's no default.

  • Tap it to open the goal.

Goal List

Up to eight goals with progress bars and time-left indicators.

  • Sizes: Medium, Large

  • Pick eight goals, or skip and get your first eight.

  • Tap any goal to open it.

Lock Screen Widgets

Griply also has two widgets for the area below your Lock Screen clock, so you can check progress without unlocking your phone.

To add one: press and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, and add a widget to the area under the clock.

  • Goal: one goal's icon alongside its current progress.

  • Today task count: how many tasks you have left today.

Tapping either one opens Griply.

Note: These are different from Lock Screen Shortcuts, the two action buttons in the bottom corners of your Lock Screen. Those create a task or jump to a screen rather than showing progress.

When a Widget Looks Out of Date

iOS decides when to refresh widgets, based on its own battery and activity rules. Griply can't force it, and there's no refresh setting to change.

If a widget looks stale, open and close Griply once. That prompts iOS to rebuild it.

Availability

Widgets are iOS only. There's no equivalent on Desktop, where you'd keep Griply open anyway, and browsers have no widget system.

All widgets are free on every plan.
